English people: Why do you still respect and honor the monarchy?

Yo from South UK here. Hmm I sometimes slag off the royal family but in a way i think its important that we have them since not many countries have them and it makes England, England. You know? Makes us sorta unique and everyone around the world can go, oh yeah England have a queen. I also see it as a point of history, we've had them for years and years so getting rid of it now would be silly and the history of the royal family is interesting if you look back many years. Another good thing about having a royal family is that they are treated as celebrities and you get a sense of pride of you meet them (ive met the queen once when i was little) and because of that reason it makes sense for them to present awards and knighthoods etc. During war times if you see a royal family member doing something and having a say about it, it makes you feel more encouraged and have more hope. Sometimes they annoy the hell out of us though haha, we have a queens speach (televised) every Christmas which is sometimes annoying but interesting at the same time.
